Kawasaki is recalling the 2009 Super Sherpa KL250G9F. NHTSA did not note the potential number of units affected.
Blockage of an oil passage in the engine might restrict oil flow to the cylinder head. This could result in the engine losing power and eventually stopping, a government bulletin says.
Dealers will inspect the oil system and repair the cylinder head for free. The recall was expected to begin on or before Jan. 25.
The NHTSA campaign ID number is 10V016000.

Harley-Davidson today unveiled the Forty-Eight, described by it as “a factory custom in the legendary tradition of the hot rod Sportster line with the raw, elemental appeal of the Dark Custom bikes.”
The bike rides low with a slammed suspension and has the classic 2.1-gallon “peanut” fuel tank. It’s powered by a rubber-mounted Evolution 1200cc V-twin that’s blacked out and polished. Other features include a low solo seat, under-mounted mirrors, a side-mount license plate, a clean rear fender and a tall-and-fat front tire.
Its MSRP will start at $10,499 in Vivid Black. It will also come in Brilliant Silver and Mirage Orange Pearl, and will be in dealerships soon (Harley’s winter dealer meeting takes place this weekend).
“With its classic bulldog shoulders stance, the Forty-Eight strikes a distinctive look and low profile that could only come from Harley-Davidson,” Ray Drea, Harley-Davidson senior director of styling, stated in a press release. “The Forty-Eight model has a collective past life experience and broken-in look that is raw and authentic.”
Forty-Eight features and highlights:
Other Dark Custom bikes include the Nightster, Iron 883, Cross Bones, Fat Bob and Street Bob.
