While Bronx Zoo cobra captivates a nation, sea beasts quietly attack
While the nation has been captivated by the escaped Bronx Zoo cobra and perhaps the first Twitter feed written by an adolescent snake, other wild beasts are out there wreaking real havoc on humans.
The cobra’s only concern with people seems to be keeping its distance. As far as we know, it has yet to even strike one of New York City’s millions of giant rats. But at sea, the animal and man interactions are mounting. For starters, there’s the 375-pound mako shark that recently plopped itself right into a Texas man’s boat while he and a few others were fishing for red snapper. According to GrindTV.com, Jason Kresse was dumping a load of fish guts into the water in the wee hours of the morn (has the man not seen “Jaws?”) when he heard serious splashing coming closer.
“I looked up and 15 feet up in the air is a big-old shark,” Kresse told GrindTV. “It ended up landing in the back of my boat.”
Kresse said he plans to mount the shark, which had to be removed from his boat by a forklift.
Then there was the wild encounter Jenny Hausch had when she, her husband and three children chartered a boat through Two Chicks Charters to explore the Florida Keys.
“These eagle rays, they were flying through the air,” Kelly Klein of Two Chicks Charters told CNN. “These giant things go out of the water and slam back down.”
Hausch had pulled out her camera to take some pictures of the flying spotted eagle rays when suddenly one rocketed out of the water in her direction. “It hit me square in the chest. I fell backwards and fell down,” Hausch told CNN.
The 8 foot long, roughly 300-pound ray then started thrashing around on top of her. After a minor grappling match, Hausch managed to fight her way out from underneath. “I was freaked out,” her young daughter Delaney said about watching her mother tangle with the sea creature. Luckily Hausch wasn’t hurt–a similar incident resulted in a woman’s death in 2008–and now has a story, some might say, to surpass that of one missing cobra.

 RIVERA Primo has updated its line of Primo PowerDrive 6 transmissions, which it originally introduced four years ago.
The latest addition is a chrome plated six-speed to fit ’93 – ’98 Touring models and is finished with a black wrinkled oil pan and a billet aluminum oil fill spout that accepts the stock filler cap. Two versions of this transmission are being offered; a standard offset for stock bikes and rear tires using a 5/8in swingarm pivot shaft, and a 1⁄2in offset for customs with wide tires utilizing a 3/4in pivot shaft. Both options feature a 32-tooth final drive pulley, close ratio 2.94:1 first gear; second gear 2.21; third gear 1.60, fourth gear 1.23; fifth gear 1.00, 0.860:1 overdrive sixth gear, and forged and back cut gears.  PROGRESSIVE Suspension’s latest addition to its range of high performance shock absorbers are the 970 Series piggyback shocks.
The new shocks combine a high-pressure gas monotube design with deflective disc damping routed through two unique circuits and adjustable for compression damping via an easily accessible knob. Both the shock body and the external piggyback coated internally to reduce friction and are capped with a forged aluminum upper. The coil spring used on the shocks can be fine-tuned via threaded preload adjusters to suit a rider’s weight and riding style.
