K&N now sells purpose-built Race-Spec high-flow air filters for a wide range of Japanese sportbikes. The company says it designed the filters to provide very low restriction, resulting in more horsepower and torque. The filters are intended for closed-course competition use only, and fuel management modifications will be necessary.
K&N says the filters have only two layers of pleated cotton media, which has 25 percent fewer pleats to open up the intake track. The filters fit directly into the OE air box assembly with an OE-style sealing bead. No cutting or fitting is required, and the filters are washable and reusable.
Also new from K&N are 63 Series Aircharger high-flow complete intake assemblies for the ’04-’09 Honda TRX450R, the ’08-’09 Kawasaki KFX450R, the ’06-’09 Suzuki LTR450 and the ’04-’09 Yamaha YFZ450 Carb. Horsepower gains range from 2.74 hp for the Suzuki to 4.66 hp for the Kawi (fuel management mods are not necessary). Replacing the stock airbox and intake tract, the assemblies include a complete rotomolded intake tube, a powder-coated aluminum airbox/heat shield and an oversized K&N high-flow air filter.
