Polaris Recalls 8,500 ATVs

In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Polaris is recalling certain 2009 and 2010 ATVs. Consumers should stop using the units unless otherwise instructed, the government says. About 8,500 units are affected.

According to the CPSC website, the front suspension ball joint step can separate from the steering knuckle and cause the rider to lose steering control.

Polaris has received 19 incident reports with no injuries.

This recall involves model year 2009 and 2010 Polaris Sportsman ATVs (models listed below) with certain VINs. The ATVs were manufactured between January and August of this year. The VIN and manufacture date are located on the right front of the ATV on the frame rail next to the front shock.

The units, made in here in the U.S., were sold by dealers nationwide from February through November for between $7,500 and $10,800.

The government is instructing owners to contact a Polaris dealer for a free repair. Consumers are being sent a direct notice from Polaris.

There is an Untouchable Bobber (softail bobber) almost finished with mock up for a customer being built. Watch for custom exhaust and suicide shift on this bad boy. 103″ S&S Panhead and a 6 Speed Baker Tranny with Renegade Wheels Vails grace this build.

Also a new build and one of our base models – the Rock-N-Rolla bobber. This puppy has a vintage 1958 Harley Hummer Gas Tank on it and a 1974 Shovel setup with kick tranny. Watch for more updates to follow on this build. How much you ask??? BMW RECALL

BMW is recalling certain 2009 and 2010 K 1300 S and K 1300 GT models manufactured between Sept. 11, 2008, and Nov. 19, 2009. The potential number of units affected is 2,019.

Poor fuel quality may lead to small deposits within the throttle bodies. During low-rpm engine operation, typically near idle speed (like when coming to a stop), air flow could be sufficiently restricted and engine stalling could occur.

BMW will notify owners, and dealers will repair the units for free. The recall is expected to begin sometime in January.
